Windward travels to Mobile

Windward Academy players and coaches were in Mobile for the southern level 2 on the weekend of November 8. The weekend brought some great weather and some strong performances.

In the boys 16’s, Andrew Goodwin battled blisters to reach the quarterfinals before falling to number 1 seed Brandon Fickey. Goodwin was well short of his best but still managed to overcome severe blisters and win three tough matches, including being down 4-2, 40-15 in the third set of his first round match.

In the girls 14’s, Laura Patterson produced 3 wins to set up a meeting with number 1 seed Sydney Campbell. Campbell, the tournament winner, prevailed 6-0 7-6. Laura finished strong winning the consolation with two more wins on Monday.

Also performing well on Monday and winning the girls 12’s consolation was Rani Rachevelapula. Rani beat a number of seeds including 3 seed Mia Kent.

Other academy members reaching the final day of play were Harrison Huynh, Lee Allen Martin, Aryn Greene, and Lindsey Hodge.

Windward Buck$ update through 10/15

The Buck$ points have been updated through October 15th. If you feel that your points have not been calculated correctly then the Players and not parents need to let Will or Staton know. You must have documentation, print out the tournaments you have played. We were wrong only a few times last year. If a tournament start date is after 10/15 it will be in the next update!

Windward Academy teams up with High Tech Tennis

Windward Academy is pleased to announce the incorporation of the regions leading video analysis company into our sessions. They have already filmed many of our groups and the feedback has been outstanding. Video analysis is a tremendous learning tool. In academy sessions, Windward students can see their strokes, and use this feedback to adjust technique or reinforce good habits.

Video analysis is also very important to improve match play. Students can see if they are implementing their game-plan and if there are changes they should have made to it. They can also see if their technique is remaining strong. Their perception of how they played and what they did is often very different after they watch the match. High Tech Tennis is at many of the major tournaments in the region. Parents, think about having them video a match for you.
