Many Windward Academy members were in action the weekend of March 11th and 12th. Our congratulations go out to Stephanie Bedenk, Andy Myers, and Sydney Schaffer who earned tournament champion honors on the local level.

In the Macon Bullfrog Windward accounted for 22 of the players, close to 10% of all participants. Henry Milsten finished a commendable 5th in the Boys 14’s, an event that saw good performances from Andrew Goodwin and Andy Bedenk. In the Girls 14’s, Whitney Kay, playing up an age group, strung together strong performances to win the event, defeating the #1 seed Lauren Herring in straight sets. Carly Holtzman, Chelsea Stewart, and Allie Robbins also had good showings in the same event.

In the 12’s age group, Daniel Hutchinson won two matches in his first Bullfrog, and Alex Howard reached the consolation final.

In Collins Hill, where the 16’s and 18’s events were held for the same Bullfrog, Rachael Hart had a memorable tournament playing up in the Girls 16’s. Rachael finished 5th defeating two participants she had never beaten and a number of players with high national rankings. Kate Fuller also played very well, winning many matches, highlighted by a win over the 4th seed Lauren Kline on her way to a 7th place finish.

Windward Academy would also like to congratulate Ali Beeler for her efforts in South Carolina and Chris McCarthy, John Valgoi, Harrison Huynh, Eric Mathieson, and Jean Chung for notable results in local tournaments.
