Cannon Campbell - Tennis Director/Owner
Cannon Campbell is a USPTA P1 certified professional,
an owner of Windward Lake Club and Director of Windward Tennis Academy.
With more than twenty-six years of tennis experience as both a player
and a coach, Cannon has excelled as a nationally ranked junior and a
nationally recognized junior tennis instructor. Working with more than
150 state,southern,nationally, and internationally ranked players Cannon
specializes in the development of elite junior players.
As a junior player, Cannon was a four time member of the Georgia Junior
Davis Cup and a twenty-eight time Georgia Junior state champion in singles
and doubles. He consistently ranked in the top five in the south in
singles and doubles and was the #1 singles player for the 1990 State
Champion Walton High school tennis team in Atlanta, Georgia. Cannon
trained under Rick Macci at the renowned Rick Macci International Tennis
Academy for one year where he learned many drills that he has personalized
and implemented into his own tennis program today.
In college, Cannon played at the University of Mississippi and Valdosta
State University. He played #1 singles and doubles at VSU and received
the honor of freshman of the year for the Gulf Coast Conference. His
sophomore year he also received all conference honors. During his junior
and senior years he established his own junior tennis program and served
as Tennis Director for the city of Valdosta. Cannon graduated from VSU
with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Public Relations. Cannon
is a USTA High Performance certified coach as well as the Southern team
coach for 2006 Nike Junior Team National Championships. Some of his
current players include: Bradley Cox(145 in the world ITF) University
of Kentucky Tennis Team, Henry Darko(250 in the world ATP), Kate Fuller(2007
#5 Girls 16 USTA National Ranking and ITF world ranked junior), Rachael
Hart (top 30 Girls 16 USTA National ranking), Allie Robbins and Aryn
Greene.
Cannon is a National advisory staff Wilson and Fila sponsored coach.
He has also developed a very successful doubles coaching philosophy
that he has instituted at Windward Tennis Academy called the “Windward
Way." In July 2007 Cannon coached the Boys and Girls 16 Southern
Intersectional Team to a National Championship win over Southern California
in Shreveport La. In September 2007 Cannon coached the Georgia Junior
Davis Cup team to victory for the Boys and Girls 14-18's. He has also
has been chosen to coach the Georgia Junior Davis Cup team for 2008.
Lastly, Cannon has been married to his wife Kristin for 13 years and
is the proud father of two girls Lawton 7and Ella 4.
